The barely mediated contents of my brain

This is what happens when I'm sitting around with drawing materials and no idea of what I'm about to do. It started in the bottom left quadrant with a spontaneous phoenix and paisley explosion. Above the paisley is a city of bird people, the project of much more conscious thought and one of the last things I added.

As you can see, I'm a maximalist.

This painting was made with watercolours and a lot of black ink, and was bought by Lisa, which makes me happy.

  1. You obviously have a very busy (and creative) brain Lesley!
Don't you think it would make an excellent puzzle?

  2. Hehe, yes - I think it's a pretty accurate depiction of my general state of mind... thank you for saying creative and not crazy! :)

It would make a great puzzle! I like puzzles like that, with lots of small detail. The worst are the ones with tons of sea or sky.

(I posted this reply before and it seems that blogger lost it somehow - please excuse the double post if the original turns up again)

  3. I still love this picture. I framed it and put it up the day after I bought it! My favourite thing is actually the tree. And the bunny inside the chequerboard!

Thank you for letting me buy it xD it makes me happy too.

Also, (sorry to cross post from your comment on my picture!) check this out. Alt art is something I've long been fascinated with. If you google it though, don't click on the 4chan result. You don't want to go there.

  4. Yay, warm fuzzies all round XD

Cross-post away, no worries! I looked at your link: yes, that's what you just did :) Wow, some of it is creepy, but the Wizard of Oz one blew me away. So good. Also loved the South Park lineup and the post-apocalyptic Scooby-Doo.

  5. Wow Lesley... that is really cool!

  6. Lucky Lisa is all I can say.
Often my doodling starts with a paisley design but I can't say it ever eventuates into anything this wonderful.

    Happy day!

    Felicity xx

  7. Awww, thank you so much Felicity!

  8. Sheer awesomeness! I'm sorry Lisa was down there and I'm in the Northern hemisphere - or we might have had a bidding war! Or maybe we could have arranged a timeshare. xx
